„Transforming Architecture through Biomaterials”

During an intensive 9-day workshop, participants will design and build their own architectural forms from scratch using a living, ecological material: mycelium. This natural substrate grows, responds to environmental conditions, and can become a lightweight, durable, and biodegradable structure. The process offers a unique design experience in which the architect not only shapes form but collaborates with growth and transformation itself.

First online session (3.04.2026) marked the beginning of our shared exploration. Participants met the teaching team, including Professor Gabriel Felmer, Professor Consuelo Fritz, Professor Agata Bonenberg and Anna Lewandowska and were introduced to the context of working with biomaterials. We also reviewed inspiring case studies from Europe and South America and outlined the design challenges ahead, preparing for the hands-on phase.
