During the recent Open Days at Poznan University of Technology, our lab Mycelium Metamorphosis, operating within the Biomaterials Laboratory, had the opportunity to engage with prospective students and present the scope of our research and creative practice.
Visitors were introduced to our exploration of natural materials and selected biomaterials, with a particular focus on mycelium-based composites and their applications in architecture, interior design, and product design. Through presentations and discussions, we demonstrated how these emerging materials can redefine conventional approaches to construction and design.
Our mission is to develop innovative and sustainable technologies that offer viable alternatives to traditional building and interior materials. Central to our work is a commitment to the principles of the circular economy: utilizing secondary raw materials, reducing carbon footprint, and creating fully biodegradable material solutions.
The Open Days provided a valuable platform to share our vision, exchange ideas, and inspire future students to engage with environmentally responsible design practices. We are grateful for the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by all who visited our lab.
