biography

Maciej Sydor works at the Poznań University of Life Sciences (PULS). He specializes in teaching Computer-Aided Design and Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering within the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology. His scientific activities focus on wood materials, technology in the furniture sector, and ergonomics. He has co-authored five scientific articles on the topic of mycelium-based composites. His works explore the use of fungal mycelium in creating new materials, particularly suitable in furniture production.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering in Design Science from the University of Zielona Góra (2001) and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Poznan University of Technology (2005). In 2019, he obtained a habilitation in Forestry Sciences from Poznań University of Life Sciences. He is a member of the main board of the Polish Ergonomic Society and a member of the Rehabilitation and Social Integration Commission at the Poznań Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Prof. Maciej Sydor is the author of six scientific monographs (2003, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2023, 2024), the editor of one scientific monograph (2023), and has contributed 37 chapters to monographs (2003-2024), 121 scientific articles (2002-2025), 15 papers in conference materials (2004-2023) and 26 articles in technical journals (2013-2024). He is also the author of seven granted patents (2009-2024) and two limited patents (2019, 2022) and has seven active patent applications at the Polish Patent Office (2023-2025). He has been the investigator in 11 research and R&D projects funded through competitions, primarily implemented in industrial enterprises (he was a project manager twice and the head of the R&D team in four projects).
