Together with Professor Gabriel Felmer, we conducted a joint research project exploring the acceptance of mycelium-based materials in architecture and design among students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Chile.
As part of the study, students had the opportunity to see, touch, and smell various types of mycelium composites, comparing their textures, scents, and aesthetic qualities. This interactive experience allowed us to gather valuable insights into how future architects and designers perceive bio-based materials and their potential applications in sustainable design.
The results of this research will contribute to a broader understanding of the role of natural, living materials in contemporary architectural practice in different locations.
