“Mycelium. Forms from the Kingdom of Fungi” – Exhibition at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław

15.10.2026 the exhibition “Mycelium. Forms from the Kingdom of Fungi” opened at the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław, exploring the potential of mycelium as a material, a medium for architectural design, and a source of inspiration for contemporary architecture.

The exhibition presents the results of many years of research into mycelium-based composites, showcasing their potential as building materials and as a subject of design experimentation and scientific investigation. It offers a glimpse into new architectural possibilities, the search for alternative materials, and the inspiration that can be found in the natural world.

A central part of the exhibition is dedicated to research conducted at the Faculty of Architecture of Poznań University of Technology under the direction of Professor Agata Bonenberg, the exhibition’s curator and co-founder of Mycelium Metamorphosis. The exhibition is co-curated by Anna Lewandowska, also a co-founder of the association, whose work focuses on exploring mycelium-based composites and their potential applications in architecture.

The exhibition also features research by other members of our association, including Dr. DSc, Eng. Jakub Zdarta and Dr. Eng. Agata Zdarta, as well as research by Professor DSc, PhD, Eng. Maciej Sydor. The exhibition also presents an artistic work by Dr. Krzysztof Ślachciak, bringing an artistic perspective into the dialogue between science, materials, and design.

An international dimension is added by the work of researchers from Santiago, Chile, including Professor Gabriel Felmer and his students, as well as Pedro Pinto. Their contributions highlight the global scope of research into biomaterials and the importance of exchanging knowledge and experience across borders.

As an international association, Mycelium Metamorphosis is committed to advancing and sharing knowledge about mycelium-based composites and their applications in architecture and design. We believe that collaboration between researchers, architects, and designers from different countries opens up new perspectives and helps us develop more sustainable solutions for the built environment.

We are delighted to see years of research and international collaboration come together in an exhibition that invites a wider audience to explore new questions about the future of architecture and our relationship with the natural world.

We invite you to visit the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław and discover the extraordinary potential of mycelium! 🌱
