biography

Ramón Ahumada Rudolph is a Chilean chemist and academic in the Departamento de Química, Facultad de Ciencias, at the Universidad del Bío-Bío, where he serves as director of the Laboratory of Applied and Sustainable Chemistry (LabQAS) a laboratory dedicated to applied and sustainable chemistry with interdisciplinary collaborations in chemistry, biology, engineering and design. His work focuses on environmental chemistry, mycoremediation and nanomaterials for pollutant control, integrating biotechnology and sustainable materials to address water, soil and air quality challenges. Academic background in Marine Chemist from Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (Chile). Magíster en Ciencias con mención en Oceanografía and Doctor en Ciencias Ambientales (mención Sistemas Acuáticos Continentales) from Universidad de Concepción. Research lines and projects: Development of activated carbon and hybrid materials (e.g. MOF–carbon composites) for odor control and removal of emerging contaminants in industrial and environmental systems. Fungal chemistry, mycoremediation and natural products from extreme or sensitive environments, including Antarctic, Archipiélago Juan Fernández and Patagonian ecosystems, for pollutant degradation and bioactive compound discovery. Biotechnological and chemical strategies for sustainable resource use, such as recovery of critical elements, valorization of organic residues and design of environmentally friendly processes.
